New Impetus for Baden-Württemberg’s Cooperation with Jiangsu and Liaoning
From October 20 to 23, 2025, a delegation from Baden-Württemberg visited the Chinese partner provinces of Jiangsu and Liaoning to hold special sessions of the Joint Working Group on Economic and Technical Cooperation (JWG).
On October 20, the JWG special session between Baden-Württemberg and Jiangsu was held in Changzhou-Jintan (Jiangsu Province). The delegation was welcomed by Mr. Wang Rongfei, Deputy Director of the Jiangsu Provincial Development and Reform Commission. The meeting aimed to identify specific areas for future cooperation between the two regions and to deepen existing collaborative frameworks.
Within the framework of the Joint Working Group, two thematic areas were addressed: “Economy, Transport, and Green Development” and “Science and Education.” Representatives from the Jiangsu Provincial Development and Reform Commission, educational, scientific, industrial, and environmental authorities, as well as universities such as Nanjing University and Soochow University, exchanged views with the Baden-Württemberg side on current developments and future cooperation approaches. The delegation also visited companies in Changzhou, including RAPA Electromagnetic Technology (Jiangsu) Co., Ltd. and Lechler Nozzle Systems (Changzhou) Co., Ltd.
From October 22 to 23, the delegation continued its journey to Liaoning Province. In preparation for the subsequent discussions with partner institutions, the delegation visited several companies and organizations in Shenyang, including Shenyang Vycon Flywheel Technology Co., Ltd., Shenyang Yuanda Enterprise Group, Neusoft Reach Automotive Technology (Shenyang) Co., Ltd., and Shenyang Polytechnic College.
On October 23, the JWG special session between Baden-Württemberg and Liaoning was held in Shenyang, opened by Mr. Li Jun, Deputy Director of the Liaoning Provincial Department of Commerce. The focus was on topics such as economic development, transport, green transformation, as well as science and education. Representatives from both sides exchanged views on ongoing projects and discussed new opportunities for deepened cooperation in these areas.
Furthermore, the decades-long partnership between Baden-Württemberg and Liaoning Province was acknowledged. Both sides emphasized the significance of the continuous cooperation since 1986 and declared that the celebrations for the 40th anniversary in 2026 would serve as an occasion to elevate the cooperation to a new level.
During their stay in Shenyang, the delegation also accepted an invitation from the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany to attend the celebration of the 35th anniversary of German reunification and took the opportunity to engage with representatives from the economic and social sectors in Northeast China.
The special sessions of the Joint Working Groups in Jiangsu and Liaoning underscore the close and practice-oriented cooperation between Baden-Württemberg and its Chinese partner provinces and form a solid foundation for the further expansion of bilateral relations.
